DataFormatter

Terms of Use

The short, plain-language terms for using DataFormatter: free and no account, your data stays in your browser, the tools are provided as-is, and you are responsible for how you use the output.

In one sentence

DataFormatter is a free set of browser-based developer tools. Use them as you like, keep your own data safe by design, and check important output before relying on it.

Using the site

  • No account, no sign-up and no fee — every tool is available to anyone who opens the page.
  • Fair use: the tools are meant for the work you bring to them, not for automated bulk scraping of the site itself.
  • You keep every right in the data, code and text you paste in. Nothing you input is claimed by DataFormatter.

Your data

Every tool processes your input locally in your browser. Nothing you paste is transmitted to, logged by or stored on a DataFormatter server, so there is nothing for us to hand over. The one exception is entirely under your control: requests you build in the API Client or API Tester are sent straight from your browser to the endpoint you type, which is governed by that endpoint's own terms and privacy policy. See the Privacy page for the full picture.

No warranty

  • The tools are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied.
  • Output is informational. Validate anything that matters — a hash comparison, a diff verdict or a decoded token — against the system of record before acting on it.
  • The site may change, gain or lose tools at any time, and a tool may be unavailable while it is being fixed.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use the site to break the law, to attack systems you do not own, or to distribute malware.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt the site for others (for example by scripting heavy traffic against it).
  • You are responsible for the requests you send from the API tools and for complying with the terms of the services you call.

Site content

The site's own copy, tool implementations and design belong to DataFormatter. You are welcome to use the tools and quote short excerpts with a link back; wholesale republication of the pages is not. Third-party names referenced in the copy and blog posts (languages, standards, libraries) remain the property of their respective owners.

Changes and reports

These terms may be updated as the site grows; the review date above always reflects the last change. To report a bug, suggest an improvement or ask a question about a tool's behavior, use the Contact page — reports go directly to the maintainer who builds the tools.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use DataFormatter?

No. There are no accounts, no sign-up and no usage limits — open a page and the tools work.

Is it really free?

Yes. Every tool on the site is free to use with no paywall, trial or feature gate.

Who owns the data I paste?

You do. Because every tool runs in your browser, your input is never transmitted to or stored by DataFormatter — see the Privacy page for the details.

What happens to a tool that gives a wrong result?

Tools are provided as-is, without warranty. If one behaves incorrectly, please report it on the public issue tracker so it can be fixed — bug reports are the fastest path to a correction.
